Follower of John Dodd
This is an interesting violin bow by a later
nineteenth century follower of John Dodd, the eccentric, illiterate
genius known as the "English Tourte". Dodd is said to
have been especially devoted to an indigenous tipple called
purl, a blend of beer and gin!
Note in this bow the characteristic
snub-nosed head with silver face plate. The pernambuco is of a lovely
light brown color, and is of round section. The ebony frog is fitted
with Parisian Eyes. This elastic bow draws a sympathetic, smooth
open tone. Weight: 60.5 grams.
Price: $3,500
