An American Bow by N. David Crowder (Born 1937), Nashville, TN

N.D. Crowder is a fine American bowmaker featured in Thomas Wenberg's The Violin Makers of The United States. A color illustration of one of his bows appears on page 353. Crowder studied bow making under Lloyd Liu, opening his own shop in 1976. Our example is a delight for both player and collector.

The bow is made on a modified Tourte model with an unusual polished bone frog. The stick is of pernambuco of octagonal section and is oil rubbed rather than lacquered, making for easy cleaning. This bow comes to us directly from the maker and is looking for a good home like yours! It gives an impression of great solidity. 62 grams.

Sorry...this one sold!
